Maintenance Technician

Location: Margate, Kent Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday – Thursday, 8am – 12pm Friday Salary: Competitive (DOE)

The Company

Our client is a well-established manufacturing business supplying specialist products to customers across a range of highly regulated industries.

They are looking to recruit a proactive Maintenance Technician to support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of their production equipment and facilities.

The Role

Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, you'll help ensure production equipment, machinery and site facilities remain safe, reliable and fully operational.

This is a varied role combining mechanical maintenance, basic electrical work, machining and general engineering support within a busy manufacturing environment.

Duties will include

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across production equipment.
  • Supporting the Production Engineering Manager with day-to-day engineering activities.
  • Identifying equipment faults and highlighting maintenance issues.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Completing basic electrical tasks including lighting, equipment isolation and accessory replacement.
  • Using a wide range of hand and power tools safely.

* Operating workshop machinery including

  • Lathe
  • Milling machine
  • CNC mill
  • Bandsaw
  • Linisher
  • Drill press
  • Grinding wheel
  • 3D printer
  • Assisting with toolmaking and fabrication work.
  • Troubleshooting production equipment.
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Following Health & Safety procedures and ensuring PPE is worn at all times.
  • The Ideal Candidate

You'll have previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment and enjoy solving practical engineering problems.

You'll also have

  • Previous maintenance engineering or technician experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic electrical knowledge.
  • Experience using workshop machinery and hand tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety within manufacturing.
  • GCSE Maths and Science (desirable).
