If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our client’s established manufacturing team in Hythe.

Our client, a long-established precision manufacturing business based in Hythe, supplies high-quality engineered components to customers across sectors including electrical, automotive, aerospace, renewable energy and advanced technology.

We are looking for a hands-on Tooling Machinist to join their toolroom team.

This is a practical engineering role focused on the repair, maintenance and refurbishment of press tooling used within their manufacturing operation.

You won't be responsible for designing and manufacturing new tools from scratch, the focus is keeping existing tooling in excellent working condition and ensuring it is ready for production.

The Role Working within the toolroom, you'll be responsible for inspecting, repairing, machining, grinding and bench-fitting tooling and components.

Your day-to-day work will include

  • Inspecting tooling for wear, damage and general condition
  • Repairing and maintaining press tools to keep them production-ready
  • Machining replacement or repair components using CNC machinery
  • Precision grinding of tooling components
  • Bench fitting, assembly and adjustment of components
  • Measuring components and working to tight tolerances
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Identifying tooling issues and determining the appropriate repair
  • Working closely with production to resolve tooling issues and minimise downtime
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised toolroom What We're Looking For We're open-minded about job titles. You may have worked as a:

  • Precision/surface grinding
  • Bench fitting and assembly
  • Engineering drawings
  • Measuring and inspection
  • Repairing or maintaining tooling, components or machinery Experience working with press tools, punches, dies or similar tooling would be advantageous, but we are also interested in candidates from a strong machining, grinding or bench-fitting background who are looking to develop into tooling repair and maintenance.

We're particularly interested in practical engineers who enjoy diagnosing problems, working accurately and getting stuck into the hands-on side of engineering.
