Contract Type: Temporary for 10-13 weeks with potential to go on longer (Covering Sickness)
This is a great opportunity to join a well-established, community-focused café based within a professional innovation environment. You’ll enjoy a hands-on role with real variety, autonomy and the chance to shape menus and customer experience.
You’ll provide a high-quality, welcoming café service, producing fresh food and drink to agreed standards while ensuring full compliance with health and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing fresh food from scratch, including cakes, soups, salads and quiches
- Supporting internal and external catering and buffet bookings
- Delivering excellent customer service and building repeat custom
- Using barista skills to prepare high-quality hot drinks
- Upselling café products to maximise revenue
- Managing stock control, rotation and ordering
- Operating the till and managing pricing and products
- Maintaining daily and deep-cleaning schedules
- Ensuring compliance with food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Supporting colleagues through cross-skilling and covering reception when required
- Contributing ideas to keep menus fresh and appealing
What we’re looking for:
- Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar café environment
- Confident working independently when required
- Strong multitasking and organisational skills
- Calm under pressure with a positive, friendly approach
- Pride in presenting food to a high standard
