Excellent part-time opportunity for an EHS professional to support safety compliance across innovative R&D sites. Flexible 16-hour week, 12-month contract, based in Cambridge with occasional UK/EU travel. Ideal for candidates with NEBOSH and hands-on H&S experience.

Our client, a leading organisation within the R&D sector, is seeking an Environment, Health & Safety Assistant to support compliance, safety systems and continuous improvement across their UK sites. This is a fantastic part-time opportunity for someone with strong EHS knowledge looking for a flexible role within a highly collaborative environment.

The role

You will assist in maintaining safe working practices, supporting audits, reviewing documentation and helping drive continuous improvements. This role is key to ensuring all activities across R&D environments meet regulatory and internal EHS standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Support Safe Systems of Work across R&D sites
  • Review RAMS, issue permits and communicate requirements
  • Conduct performance checks and stop unsafe work when required
  • Coordinate statutory inspections and follow-up actions
  • Support audits and workplace inspections
  • Assist with Declaration of Conformity documentation
  • Support completion and review of risk assessments
  • Participate in change control processes
  • Assist with incident reviews, root cause analysis and action tracking
  • Support the UK EHS group mailbox
  • Prepare safety communications
  • Assist with generating and reviewing procedures
  • Contribute to EHS performance reporting and trend analysis
Skills & experience
  • Knowledge of UK EHS regulations and best practices
  • Understanding of RAMS, incident investigation and auditing
  • Excellent organisational and documentation skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams
  • A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is essential
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience is desirable
