Health & Safety Manager Location: Aylesford, Kent Contract: Permanent Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time Considered About the Role Our Client is seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management across their manufacturing and retail operations. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this is a strategic and hands-on role where you will champion a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation, and support operational excellence through effective leadership and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with managers across the business to embed health and safety into everyday activities while driving continuous improvement and best practice. Key Responsibilities * Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems. * Promote a proactive health and safety culture through employee engagement and visible leadership. * Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation. * Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, and workplace investigations. * Manage contractor compliance, permits to work, and RAMS reviews. * Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, implementing corrective actions where required. * Develop and deliver training programmes, inductions, toolbox talks, and coaching activities. * Maintain emergency response procedures, including fire safety, COSHH management, and evacuation plans. * Collaborate with operational teams on improvement projects and business initiatives. * Prepare reports, maintain records, and present health and safety performance data to senior leadership. About You Essential: * NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum requirement). * Previous experience in a Health & Safety Manager or similar role. * Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements. * Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and investigations. * Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills. Desirable: * DSEAR knowledge or qualification. * Experience within manufacturing, production, FMCG, or a similar operational environment. * Knowledge of food safety standards and manufacturing practices.
