Up to Β£22 per hour (Umbrella), depending on direct recovery experience
Location: Stourbridge, West Midlands
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - 5 days
Contract: 3 months
Start date: November 2026
Are you passionate about supporting people affected by alcohol dependency and helping them make positive changes in their lives?
We're recruiting for an Alcohol Recovery Worker to join a substance misuse charity in Stourbridge on a 5-month maternity cover assignment.
The service is open to candidates without direct alcohol recovery experience, recognising the challenges of recruiting locally. If you have a good understanding of substance misuse, key working and safeguarding, this could be a great opportunity to develop your experience, with training and support available.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing one-to-one key work and recovery support to individuals affected by substance misuse.
- Supporting service users to achieve personalised recovery goals.
- Conducting risk assessments and maintaining accurate case notes.
- Following safeguarding procedures and identifying potential risks.
- Supporting individuals to access appropriate treatment and recovery services.
- Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals and partner agencies.
What We're Looking For
- A good understanding of substance misuse and the challenges faced by individuals accessing support.
- Experience in key working, support work or a similar person-centred role.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and risk assessments.
- Strong communication, engagement and motivational skills.
- A compassionate, non-judgemental approach.
Knowledge of detox eligibility, referral pathways and wider treatment options would be an advantage, but direct alcohol recovery experience is not essential.
The service is happy to support and train the right candidate, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their experience within substance misuse services.
