Company A is a very reputable large multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with multiple offices throughout the UK. They are currently engaged in a number of projects ranging in size across Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Mixed-Use and more. The company has highly technical and well-experienced senior management with clear plans outlined for staff development and progression, providing a trusting and flexible working environment along with a positive workplace culture and candidate feedback.

Currently seeking an experienced mechanical designer at Principal level, would consider associate level.

Role:

  • Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
  • Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
  • Preparation and review of documentation e.g. designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
  • Carry out (managing of others) in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, CAD, IES, in-house developed tools, etc.
  • Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
  • Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish the status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposals.
  • Assisting with the development of junior engineers.
  • Report and technical note writing.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
  • 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
  • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
  • Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
  • Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as IES thermal modelling package, Microsoft packages, CAD.
