Morgan Hunt is pleased to be working in partnership with a Higher Education client in Edinburgh and Aberdeen to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor (Business Partner) on an contracts basis with the view to going permanent. This position is well-suited to an individual with excellent communication skills and substantial experience in the field of health and safety. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of health and safety practices and legislation, along with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety improvements within a complex organisation.
This is a WFH post with travel required across various sites in Scotland.
The ideal applicant will have experience in managing health, safety and environmental management systems, demonstrating competence in maintaining compliance and driving continuous improvement. A key aspect of the role will involve conducting thorough workplace safety inspections, identifying risks, and ensuring appropriate measures are implemented.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the role requires the production of high-quality reports and professional correspondence, as well as the delivery of clear and confident oral presentations to a variety of stakeholders. The ability to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple priorities and responding to urgent demands, is crucial. Job responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Lead Business Partner and relevant colleagues to foster and promote a proactive and positive health and safety culture across all operational activities.
- Provide competent, professional, and risk-informed advice on all matters relating to health and safety within the organisation.
- Support the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of health and safety standards, systems, and procedures across all client sites and functions.
- Develop, coordinate, and assist in the delivery of health and safety training and awareness initiatives tailored to operational needs.
- Support the client in achieving full compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and internal policies.
- Contribute to the development and review of robust health and safety policies and procedures to drive high standards and legal compliance.
- Monitor, report on, and support the improvement of health and safety performance through audits, inspections, investigations, and key performance indicators.
- Ensure that all statutory and regulatory requirements are understood, communicated, and met throughout the clientβs operations.
- Keep the organisation informed of legislative changes and evolving best practice in health and safety, supporting the necessary updates to systems and procedures.
