Pentagon Talent are currently working with a well-established and highly respected law firm that is looking to appoint an experienced Head Legal Cashier to lead its cashiering function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules who enjoys leading people, improving processes and ensuring the highest levels of compliance.

The Role

This is a hands‑on leadership position where you'll combine operational oversight with team management, helping to deliver an efficient and compliant legal cashiering service across the business.

  • Leading and managing the Legal Cashiering team, ensuring workloads are effectively prioritised and service standards are consistently achieved.
  • Overseeing the accurate processing of client and office account transactions, including payments, receipts, transfers and financial postings.
  • Managing daily bank reconciliations and supporting the completion of monthly client account reconciliations.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for complex cashiering queries and transaction escalations.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules, anti-money laundering regulations and internal financial controls.
  • Investigating and reporting compliance issues where required while maintaining accurate audit trails and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with internal and external audits and promoting best practice around cyber security and fraud prevention.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing the cashiering team, supporting performance management, training and career development.
  • Building strong working relationships with finance colleagues, fee earners and external banking contacts to provide expert support on cashiering and regulatory matters.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen financial controls and support ongoing system enhancements and automation projects.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you'll ideally have

  • Significant experience within a Legal Cashiering environment.
  • A thorough understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Previous experience managing or leading a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.
  • A solid understanding of compliance requirements, cyber security and fraud prevention.
  • Experience working with legal finance systems and banking platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence analysing financial information.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
  • A proactive approach with a genuine passion for improving processes and developing people.
