One of the UK's very well established firms of M&E and sustainability engineers is searching for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join their modern Glasgow office. They have regular social events and an excellent history and reputation when it comes to successful project delivery. They are involved in multiple sectors including Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Mixed-Use, and Residential.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
- Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
- Preparation and review of documentation such as designs, specifications, assessment reports, and survey reports.
- Managing the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, CAD, IES, and in-house developed tools.
- Conducting site surveys, inspections, and monitoring of site works.
- Implementing detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish the status of existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposals.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
- 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
- Good report writing skills and experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
- Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, and act on own initiative.
- Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as IES thermal modelling package, Microsoft packages, and CAD.
