This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in building services design who is looking to develop their career while working on a diverse portfolio of exciting projects.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality electrical building services designs from concept through to completion.
The role offers the opportunity to work across a range of sectors while developing your technical expertise and contributing to innovative, sustainable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical building services systems for a variety of projects.
- Produce electrical designs for low voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, fire alarms, security systems, and data infrastructure.
- Prepare calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, architectural, and other project disciplines.
- Attend design meetings, client meetings, and site visits as required.
- Ensure designs comply with UK Building Regulations, BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), CIBSE guidance, and relevant British Standards.
- Assist with project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
- Support senior engineers and contribute to technical discussions and design reviews.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, regulations, and emerging technologies.
About You
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy or contractor environment.
- Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, and general building electrical services.
- Experience using industry-standard software such as Amtech (Trimble Pro Design), Dialux EVO or Relux, Revit MEP, Auto CAD, and Microsoft Office.
- A good understanding of UK Building Regulations, BS 7671, CIBSE guidance, and relevant British Standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
