Morgan Hunt are working with a consultancy in Edinburgh to recruit a number of Senior Structural Engineers on a permanent basis. The role is with a growing structural engineering consultancy with offices across the UK, delivering high-quality engineering solutions to a broad range of residential and commercial clients. Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our Edinburgh office and play a key role in the delivery of residential-led projects across Scotland and the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and technically strong engineer who enjoys working across a varied portfolio of projects, particularly within the housing sector.
The successful candidate will lead and deliver structural engineering designs, manage client relationships, and support the development of junior engineers within the team. Projects will primarily involve residential and house-building developments, with a focus on timber structures alongside steel and traditional masonry construction.
Responsibilities:- Lead the structural design and delivery of residential and mixed-use developments
- Produce structural calculations, reports, specifications, and technical drawings
- Design structures using timber, steel, and masonry construction methods
- Liaise directly with clients, architects, contractors, and house builders
- Attend project meetings and site visits as required
- Manage project programmes and ensure delivery to budget and deadlines
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the Edinburgh office
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE or MICE), or working towards chartership
- Proven experience in a structural engineering consultancy environment
- Strong technical experience in timber design, with additional experience in steel and masonry structures
- Experience working with national or regional house builders would be highly advantageous
- Good knowledge of UK building regulations and design standards
- Proficient in structural analysis and design software
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a team
