Health, Safety & Facilities Assistant

Location: Birmingham
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Β£25,357 per annum
Contract: Temporay on going, with potential for extension

About the Role

We are looking for a Health, Safety & Facilities Assistant to support the Health, Safety & Facilities Manager with health & safety, facilities, compliance and administration across the organisation.
This is a varied role suited to someone who is organised, proactive and confident working across health & safety and facilities. Training will be provided in health & safety and Lean systems.
This role is available to start as soon as possible, with interviews taking place quickly for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular health & safety, security and facilities audits.
  • Complete fire alarm, fire door, fire extinguisher and emergency lighting checks.
  • Monitor PPE, first aid equipment, safety stock and signage.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and assist with reports.
  • Support ordering of PPE, cleaning and facilities supplies.
  • Monitor facilities work orders and liaise with contractors and suppliers.
  • Assist with basic maintenance, workplace organisation and storage systems.
  • Process invoices, purchase orders and contractor costs.
  • Support budget monitoring and general administration.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to maintaining a safe and well-managed working environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in Health & Safety and/or Facilities Management.
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good IT and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • A proactive, reliable and positive approach.

GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent are required.
Experience within property maintenance, facilities management or a technical environment would be beneficial.
