Term-time only, flexible hours (including occasional evenings/weekends) £12.91 per hour (pro rata, £24,847 FTE). We are delighted to be supporting a well-regarded Further Education college in Northamptonshire in the recruitment of a dedicated and supportive Learning Support Assistant to join their Learning Support team. About the Role

  • Provide high-quality, tailored support to learners, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Play a key role in helping students develop confidence, improve their study skills, and stay engaged with their learning, while supporting tutors in delivering an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with varying needs.
  • Support learners to develop study skills, confidence and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress, attendance and support provided.
  • Motivate, mentor and support students in achieving their learning goals.
  • Assist tutors with classroom activities and practical sessions.
  • Promote positive behaviour and act as a role model for learners.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with students.
  • Support safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusive practices across the college.

About You

You will be a patient, supportive and reliable individual with a passion for helping others succeed. You'll have experience working with young people and be confident supporting learners with a range of needs. Strong communication skills, empathy and a proactive approach are key in this role. You'll enjoy working as part of a team and be committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with young people and supporting their individual needs.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience handling confidential information appropriately.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting learners with additional needs or learning difficulties.
  • Experience working in an education setting.
