We are delighted to be supporting a well-regarded Further Education college in Northamptonshire in the recruitment of a passionate and student-focused Careers Advisor to join their Careers team. About the Role
As a Careers Advisor, you will deliver high-quality, impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance to students across the college. You will support the delivery of a comprehensive careers programme aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks, working closely with curriculum teams to ensure students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one careers guidance sessions to students across the college
- Plan and deliver engaging workshops, masterclasses and employability sessions
- Support students through the UCAS application process and higher education progression
- Collaborate with curriculum teams to provide tailored careers support
- Participate in open days, transition events and student recruitment activities
- Support cross-college events and student experience initiatives
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to the continuous improvement of careers provision
About You
You will be a confident and engaging communicator with a passion for supporting young people to achieve their goals. You'll have experience delivering careers advice and guidance, either one-to-one or in group settings, and be able to motivate students from a range of backgrounds and abilities. You'll be organised, proactive, and able to manage your own workload while contributing to a wider team.
Essential Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Experience providing careers advice and guidance to individuals or small groups
- Experience working with young people and supporting progression
- Knowledge of careers guidance frameworks, including Gatsby Benchmarks
- Strong communication, organisation and customer service skills
- Willingness to work towards a Level 6 Careers qualification
Desirable
- Degree-level qualification
- Level 6 Careers (CIEAG) qualification
- Experience working in Further Education
- Experience organising events or working with external partners
