Company A successful, small‑sized MEP consultancy with multiple projects across the country operating from their office in Edinburgh. This business consists of a highly qualified and experienced team of M&E design engineers with many years of project experience in all aspects of building services engineering from concept to completion. This organisation is involved in both private and public sector work and is looking for an experienced Electrical Building Services Design Engineer or Senior Engineer to join their growing team. Projects are smaller scale and they are looking for a capable engineer who can come in, manage and run with their own multiple small sized jobs. This can vary from Commercial Office Fit‑Outs, Local Authority work, Decarb Studies, Condition Surveys and so on. They are a modern, flexible employer with low staff turnover levels.
Role
- HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent certified Electrical Engineer.
- Use knowledge of electrical building services to educate designs (HV/LV Power, Lighting, Emergency Lighting, Lighting Control, Fire Alarms, Communication Systems, Lightning Protection, Security and Access Control etc.).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux etc.
Qualifications/Experience
- Maintain, enhance and apply both design and technical knowledge ensuring production of high‑quality drawings.
- Electrical design of lighting, LV supply and small power distribution, earthing and lightning protection, fire and voice alarm systems, telecommunication services, low current and extra low voltage services, automatic controls, BMS as well as other related electrical utility systems as assigned.
- Preparation of electrical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Participate in the design progress and coordination meetings.
- Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA work stages.
- Attend tender/client interviews.
- Attend site inspection meetings.
- Liaise with clients, professional organisations, contractors, suppliers, sub‑contractors and other designers.
- Quality assurance.
