Head of Organisational Development and Culture opportunity for this leading FE College.

We are delighted to be supporting a leading further education provider in the appointment of a newly created Head of Organisational Development & Culture role.

Our client is one of the largest further education college groups in England, supporting more than 16,000 learners across five campuses.

With an ambitious strategy for 2030, the organisation is investing significantly in its people, culture and workforce capability to strengthen its position as a leading place to work and learn.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for

  • Developing and implementing the 2030 Curriculum Workforce Strategy.
  • Leading workforce skills audits and translating findings into targeted development priorities.
  • Designing a structured CPD framework incorporating digital and blended learning.
  • Scoping and developing a scalable Leadership Development Programme for the organisation.
  • Exploring partnership and supplier opportunities to maximise the impact and value of leadership and workforce development.
  • Leading a culture transformation programme across a complex, multi-site organisation.
  • Developing behavioural frameworks aligned to organisational values and leadership expectations.
  • Designing and implementing an employee experience and engagement strategy.
  • Leading employee engagement survey activity, insight analysis and organisational action planning.
  • Supporting initiatives designed to improve wellbeing, attendance and retention.
  • Working closely with senior leaders, staff representatives and wider stakeholders to build engagement and ownership.
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Learning and Organisational Development Manager, Employee Experience Manager and their respective teams.
  • Preparing high-quality Board and Executive-level papers, business cases, options analyses and recommendations.
  • Ensuring programmes are appropriately costed, risk-assessed and capable of successful implementation.

About You

You will ideally bring

  • Significant senior-level experience within L&D, OD, culture change and/or employee experience.
  • A strong track record of designing and delivering leadership development and workforce capability programmes, particularly for senior audiences.
  • Experience of blended and digital learning solutions.
  • Proven experience of leading culture-change and behavioural-development programmes within complex organisations.
  • The ability to influence and engage senior leaders, employees, unions and staff representatives.
  • Experience of designing and managing employee engagement strategies, including surveys, analysis, action planning and impact measurement.
  • Strong programme and people management experience, with the ability to deliver at pace.
  • Experience producing Board or Executive-level papers, business cases and options analyses.
  • A strategic mindset combined with strong commercial and delivery capability.
  • Ability to work flexibly across campuses, including some evening events, and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
  • Experience within the further education, education, skills, vocational learning or another complex, multi-site environment would be advantageous.
