  • **About the Role / Job Summary:**

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to access education, build independence, and achieve their potential?

This rewarding role combines in-class learning support with personal care, working with students with a range of physical, cognitive, and additional needs in a mainstream further education setting.

You will collaborate closely with the Study Support Lead, vocational tutors, and Student Services staff to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student can participate fully in college life.

  • **Key Responsibilities:**
  • Support students with additional needs in the classroom, assisting with learning resources and specialist equipment.
  • Provide personal care support, including the use of hoists and other specialist equipment.
  • Draw up agreed support plans with SMART targets, monitor progress, and intervene as necessary.
  • Manage a caseload of students, liaising with teaching staff and external partners.
  • Manage behaviours and emotional regulation, applying appropriate strategies with patience.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce reports to meet inspection requirements.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and college-wide activities.
  • **Qualifications:**
  • Proven experience working in further education or secondary school settings.
  • Experience supporting students with learning and physical disabilities.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with young people.
  • Good IT and communication skills.
  • **Education Requirements:**
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification.
  • English and Maths at Grade 5-9 or equivalent.
  • Training certificates in the use of hoists or peg feeding.
  • **Experience Requirements:**
  • Experience in supporting students with personal care needs.
  • Experience of setting SMART targets and monitoring progress.
  • Understanding of strategies to support students with challenging behaviour.
