About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and empathetic Student Mentor to support pupils aged 16-19 with their academic progress, behaviour, and personal development. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and stay engaged in education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to students.
- Support pupils with behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
- Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult.
- Deliver mentoring sessions focused on confidence, resilience, and goal setting.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SENCO.
- Monitor and track student progress.
About You
- Experience working with young people (schools, youth work, coaching, or similar).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with challenging or disengaged students.
- Patient, resilient, and proactive.
- Passionate about supporting young people to succeed.
Desirable
- Experience in SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision.
- Background in psychology, youth work, or education.
- Behaviour management training.
