About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and empathetic Student Mentor to support pupils aged 16-19 with their academic progress, behaviour, and personal development. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and stay engaged in education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to students.
  • Support pupils with behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
  • Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult.
  • Deliver mentoring sessions focused on confidence, resilience, and goal setting.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SENCO.
  • Monitor and track student progress.

About You

  • Experience working with young people (schools, youth work, coaching, or similar).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with challenging or disengaged students.
  • Patient, resilient, and proactive.
  • Passionate about supporting young people to succeed.

Desirable

  • Experience in SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision.
  • Background in psychology, youth work, or education.
  • Behaviour management training.
