Our client are a local Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Engineering Consultancy with an excellent reputation for the quality of work they produce. Their technical expertise and successful project delivery has allowed them to grow rapidly and become one of the most reputable firms in the industry. Our client have strong projects wins across the healthcare, education and commercial, MOD sectors. Services range from detailed design, TTD, dilapidations, pre–acquisition surveys, technical advisory work and more. They are currently open to an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) and will consider various grades. This is an excellent opportunity to grow and develop your career to join a highly thought of consultancy, receiving technical guidance from very experienced senior management.
Role
- Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
- Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
- Preparation and review of documentation eg designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
- Carry out (managing of others) in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, CAD, IES, in house developed tools etc.
- Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
- Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposal.
- Running entire projects from a technical design and client perspective.
- Fee proposals (depending on level).
- Assisting with the development of junior engineers.
- Report and technical note writing.
Qualifications / Experience
- Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
- Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
- Minimum 5–10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
- Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
- Experience managing projects through various RIBA stages.
- Commercial involvement through fee bids, tenders, management of finances.
- Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
- Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as IES thermal modelling package, Microsoft packages, CAD.
