Our client are Building Services consulting engineers who specialise in the design, specification and costing of mechanical and electrical building services. They are a well-established local, director-owned business with considerable experience in the MoD sector. A large chunk of their project portfolio is made up of interesting and challenging defence projects, however they will also get involved in public sector work. They heavily invest in staff training and development, have created a positive workplace culture with high staff retention rates, are flexible and overall a solid brand in the industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer at Senior/Principal/Associate level to take the next step in their career. Due to the nature of work you must be able to obtain SC clearance.

Role

  1. Lead the electrical design for building services projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  2. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  3. Prepare detailed electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and reports.
  4. Take ownership of project delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs within agreed timescales and budgets.
  5. Develop strong client relationships and represent the company at client meetings and presentations.
  6. Provide support in project management, including resource allocation, risk management, and project reporting.

Qualifications / Experience

  1. A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  2. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartered status.
  3. Extensive experience in electrical design engineering within the building services sector.
  4. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting, power, fire alarms, security, and data systems.
  5. Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design tools.
  6. In-depth understanding of UK building regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions to complex design challenges.
  9. Proven experience in managing projects and client relationships.
  10. A proactive, self-motivated approach to work, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
