Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Professional Regulatory Body in their search for a temporary Regulatory Investigator. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced investigator or case manager to lead on complex and sensitive cases within a highly respected regulatory environment.
In this role, you will manage a caseload of complex and serious Fitness to Practise investigations, undertaking evidence gathering, drafting allegations, and preparing cases for committee consideration. You will conduct witness interviews, take detailed statements, and work confidently with vulnerable witnesses. You will also instruct experts or counsel where required, maintain meticulous case records, and ensure all activity meets regulatory standards, KPIs and legal frameworks.
Working closely with the Investigations Manager and wider team, you will provide clear updates, exercise sound judgement, and progress cases efficiently through the investigation process. You will also contribute to internal discussions, highlight risks, and support continuous improvement across the directorate.
The successful candidate will be an experienced investigator with strong regulatory or Fitness to Practise experience. You will have a detailed understanding of investigatory processes, evidential thresholds and legal considerations, as well as excellent drafting and analytical skills. Confidence managing complex information, handling sensitive issues with professionalism, and operating autonomously is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on complex and serious Fitness to Practise investigations, ensuring cases progress efficiently and in line with regulatory KPIs.
- Draft case plans, allegations, witness statements and supporting documentation.
- Conduct interviews and take statements from complainants, witnesses and registrants, including vulnerable individuals.
- Gather, analyse and evaluate evidence, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Instruct counsel or expert witnesses as required and coordinate further investigation activity.
- Prepare cases for consideration by statutory committees.
- Maintain accurate case records, monitor costs and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
- Research legal and regulatory issues relevant to casework.
- Contribute to internal meetings, service improvement activity and lessons learned reviews.
- Ensure all work adheres to policies, procedures, legislation and organisational values.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced investigator with a strong background in regulatory, Fitness to Practise, legal or compliance environments.
- Proven ability to manage complex investigations from end-to-end.
- Strong experience drafting allegations, witness statements and handling sensitive or vulnerable witnesses.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks, decision-making standards and legal processes.
- Excellent analytical, written communication and evidence evaluation skills.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Sound judgment, diplomacy and the ability to handle complex or sensitive information appropriately.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Law degree or equivalent casework experience (desirable).
