About the Role / Job Summary

The Programme Leader for Professional Cookery will play a crucial role in enhancing the curriculum and providing high‑quality education in professional cookery.

This position involves teaching allocated students and planning lessons to achieve progression in learning, in accordance with the College's policies.

The successful candidate will work to establish clear teaching objectives, set appropriate expectations, and create an inclusive environment that promotes diversity and equality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality teaching to students in professional cookery.
  • Set clear objectives and expectations for student learning.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that challenge students and maintain interest.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and extend classroom practices.
  • Utilize ICT to enhance learning experiences.
  • Ensure effective assessment and verification of learning programmes.
  • Support students with Special Educational Needs and promote inclusivity.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Relevant qualifications in professional cookery or related fields.

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent is preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience of teaching to a high standard in a school or college setting.
  • Successful experience of curriculum development at Sixth Form College level.
  • Experience in planning and implementing assessment strategies.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
