We are currently working with a respected Further Education College in Portsmouth who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in Mechanical Engineering who is passionate about delivering inspirational teaching and helping students achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across relevant Mechanical Engineering programmes.
You will play an important role in supporting student progression, achievement and success, while creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
- Deliver scheduled lessons, tutorials and student assessments.
- Support excellent student attendance, retention and achievement.
- Monitor and record student progress using relevant information systems.
- Prepare learning plans, schemes of work and teaching resources.
- Provide effective support and guidance to students.
- Maintain accurate records relating to student progress and achievement.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
- Attend parents' evenings, open days, marketing events and promotional activities.
- Use IT confidently and creatively to enhance teaching and learning.
- The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have strong specialist knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and a genuine passion for teaching and supporting students.
You will ideally have
- A Level 5 teaching qualification, such as a Certificate in Education, PGCE or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards one.
- A high level of specialist knowledge within Mechanical Engineering.
- A relevant degree or higher-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject
- At least 2 years' experience teaching Mechanical Engineering to full-time or part-time students
- Experience of successfully teaching and strong student achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to inspire, motivate and engage students.
- A confident and creative approach to using IT to enhance learning.
- A self-motivated, innovative and collaborative approach.
