Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan and develop lessons, including the development of schemes of work.
- Develop and implement learner‑centred assessment methods, with focus on constructive and developmental feedback for our students.
- Encourage, monitor and report on the attendance, progress and achievements of students.
- Ensure safe working environments for students and colleagues, enforce health and safety standards in your area, ensuring all students understand and comply.
- Undertake personal coaching and pastoral responsibilities for designated students in order to support them in their own development and future progression.
- Keep abreast of industry developments in your specialist area to ensure the relevance and continued employability of our students.
- Actively participate in continuing professional development around theory and practice within the education sector.
Skills & Experience
- Have a level 5 Subject Specialism as a minimum in maths or equivalent.
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification.
- Have recent, relevant and successful experience of teaching functional skills and GCSE maths to learners from Entry Level to Level 2, preferably within a Further Education college.
- Evidence of recent teaching and assessment in delivering functional skills maths programmes, with a proven track record of successful delivery within English or maths.
- Be prepared to become a member of the Institute for Learning and undertake CPD activities as required.
- Ability to deliver excellent teaching, learning and assessment pedagogic practice & share good practice.
- Be able to deliver a variety of pedagogic strategies to suit a variety of learning styles.
- Have the ability and interest to contribute to learner enrichment activities.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and team development skills and have the ability to contribute to the team and its goals.
- Be able to support colleagues within the team.
