We are delighted to be partnering with a leading national charity to recruit a Technical Architect to join their expanding Technology & Finance directorate. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a widely respected organisation whose mission is to protect children from cruelty and support life‑changing services across the UK.
About the Role
As a Technical Architect, you will join a small, hands‑on, and forward‑thinking Architecture team responsible for shaping the charity's technology landscape. The organisation is well advanced in its cloud migration and now focused on optimising its investment to drive innovation, streamline services, and evolve its estate.
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, you will play a key role in designing, assessing, and governing technical solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, supportable, and aligned with business and technology strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Be an active member of the Architecture Board, validating solution designs to ensure they are robust, supportable, and aligned to the broader technology estate.
- Help manage the flow of technology change proposals and ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and processed efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with project teams during the design stage and support build and deployment activities where appropriate.
- Contribute to Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation and assess supplier responses.
- Work collaboratively with Technology Suppliers on strategic and tactical designs, helping resolve complex technical issues and supporting contract negotiations.
- Build strong, day‑to‑day relationships across technical teams, supporting them with architectural guidance and problem‑solving.
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with internal business stakeholders, developing a deep understanding of their challenges and translating them into viable technical solutions.
- Act as an escalation point for the Platform Operations team and deputise for the Enterprise Architect where needed.
- Maintain accurate system documentation and roadmaps, contributing to the organisation's Enterprise Architecture practice.
Skills and experience
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise‑level applications, systems, and networks securely.
- Proficiency across multiple programming languages and frameworks, with strong understanding of traditional, hybrid, and cloud‑native technologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges quickly and effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all organisational levels.
- Experience managing commercial and technical discussions with potential suppliers.
- Background in a Technical Architect or similar technical leadership role, ideally with a track record of delivering complex projects.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and industry best practices.

- Microsoft Azure – Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, Azure Active Directory.
- Microsoft 365 & Dynamics 365 – SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, Dynamics CRM.
- Software Engineering Fundamentals – C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, Visual Studio.
- Database Design & Management – SQL Server, Azure SQL, data modelling.
- API Design & Integration – RESTful API design and consumption.
- Cloud Architecture & Design – microservices, serverless, containerisation (AKS).
- Security & Compliance – identity management, security frameworks, data protection.
