We're seeking a proactive and people-focused HR Advisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This role will support a broad range of HR and people activities - from advising managers on employee relations matters to ensuring accurate HR data, supporting wellbeing, and contributing to key organisational projects.

You'll be at the heart of helping to deliver an effective and inclusive HR service, with plenty of opportunity to develop your expertise and contribute to real change. This role supports the successful delivery of our People Plan by providing trusted advice, accurate people data, and day-to-day HR support to managers and staff. You'll help us create a workplace where people feel supported, engaged, and empowered.

Responsibilities
  • Advising managers on people matters including absence, disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, family leave, and restructures.
  • Attending disciplinary and grievance hearings as the HR panel representative.
  • Managing and supporting casework with a business-focused approach.
  • Supporting staff wellbeing, including making welfare calls and signposting to support services.
  • Coordinating HR processes including recruitment, job evaluation, and contractual changes (e.g. starters, leavers, fixed-term contracts).
  • Maintaining accurate HR data, generating reports and supporting the use of KPIs and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) data.
  • Supporting policy reviews and contributing to organisational change initiatives.
  • Working cooperatively with trade unions and across teams to ensure good employee relations.
  • Promoting inclusive practices and ensuring EDI principles are embedded in everything we do.
Skills and Experience
  • We're looking for someone with solid HR experience, ideally in an advisory capacity, who is confident handling employee relations, advising managers, and managing day-to-day HR processes.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience managing absence, casework, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • A cooperative, solution-focused approach.
  • A sound understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Confidence in using HR data and systems.
  • A values-driven attitude and commitment to inclusion.
  • A CIPD Level 5 qualification is desirable or working towards.
