Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Assessor to lead the College's provision for the assessment of Specific Learning Difficulties (Sp LD), with a particular focus on dyslexia.

You will conduct high-quality diagnostic assessments, produce professional reports, recommend reasonable adjustments and examination access arrangements, and ensure students receive the specialist support they need to achieve their full academic potential.

Working closely with curriculum teams, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), examinations staff and senior leaders, you will play a key role in promoting an inclusive learning environment while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, awarding body regulations and College policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments using recognised psychometric assessment tools.
  • Produce comprehensive, evidence-based diagnostic reports.
  • Recommend appropriate learning support, reasonable adjustments and exam access arrangements.
  • Provide specialist advice to lecturers, LSAs, examinations teams and student support services.
  • Support students with additional learning needs throughout their educational journey.
  • Maintain accurate assessment records and ensure compliance with safeguarding, equality and awarding body requirements.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of inclusive teaching and learning practices across the College.

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience conducting diagnostic dyslexia/Sp LD assessments.
  • Experience administering and interpreting standardized psychometric assessments.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality diagnostic reports.
  • Strong knowledge of reasonable adjustments and examination access arrangements.
  • Experience working within Further Education (FE), Higher Education (HE) or specialist educational settings.
  • Experience supporting students with additional learning needs and advising multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
