Key Responsibilities

  • To provide physical and communication support using modes of communication appropriate to the individual needs of the student.
  • To provide communication support to enable full access to the curriculum and any extra-curricular activities, e.g. lessons, assemblies, parents' evenings, reviews, and visits.
  • To work with individuals and groups of students with additional needs under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • To help plan and organise learning activities for the students being supported.
  • To provide support that facilitates the student's cognitive development by removing barriers to learning.
  • To ensure the physical welfare of students and assist with physical needs as appropriate and agreed, including moving and handling and intimate care where required.
  • Under the guidance of the SENCO, contribute to setting individual targets and reviewing progress against those targets.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, reviews, and written reports.
  • Monitor the progress of identified students, maintain accurate written records in line with Academy systems, and provide feedback to teachers on student progress.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in learning support or support work with young people with learning disabilities (e.g. autism, ADHD, etc.).
  • Experience working within an educational environment providing academic or personal care support.
  • Experience with or willingness to provide personal care support for individuals with high needs (e.g. PEG feeding, toileting, changing, etc.).
  • Available to interview immediately.
  • Right to Work in the UK and an Enhanced Adult and Child DBS dated within the last 3 months or registered on the Update Service.
