We are working with a fantastic London-based college who are on the lookout for their next Interim Head of ALS to lead and manage Additional Learning Support (ALS) and High Needs provision.
Our next Interim Head of ALS will have overall responsibility for High Needs students, associated funding and compliance, and the quality and effectiveness of all additional learning support. You will lead a team of ALS Managers and specialist staff to ensure students receive timely, high-quality support that enables them to thrive.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing and coordinating ALS provision to deliver an innovative, high-quality service
- Overseeing all High Needs processes, funding, claims and documentation
- Leading, motivating and developing a multidisciplinary support team
- Ensuring strong performance across recruitment, retention, attendance and achievement
- Managing budgets and producing accurate financial and performance reports
- Working closely with Local Authorities, parents/carers and external agencies
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience managing additional learning support, ideally in Further Education
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and High Needs funding
- Experience leading teams and managing budgets effectively
- Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills
- A clear commitment to student-centred practice and continuous improvement
