Are you a Debt Recovery Team Leader looking for work in North West London? Morgan Hunt's client based in North West London is looking to recruit a Debt Recovery Team Leader to provide cover for a permanent vacancy. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and leading a team of 12 Debt Recovery Officers. This assignment has been deemed inside of IR35 and will offer full time hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficiently use the IWorld/Northgate (NEC) Revenues and Benefits Processing System.
- Assist with management of the recovery of one or more debt portfolios (e.g. Housing Benefit Overpayments, Adult Social Care, Sundry Debt), ensuring effective, timely and consistent collection activity.
- Ensure all recovery activity meets legislative requirements, case law and Council policies, safeguarding the Council's financial position and minimising risk of loss or legal challenge.
- Implement operational plans in line with the Council's Debt Recovery Strategy, driving improved recovery outcomes and effective bad debt management.
- Lead a team of recovery staff to achieve high performance through coaching, mentoring, supervision and proactive management of performance, conduct and attendance in line with corporate policies.
- Set, monitor and review measurable recovery targets, addressing under performance promptly and ensuring both qualitative and quantitative standards are met.
- Apply appropriate recovery methods, ensure suitable repayment arrangements are agreed, and maintain strong working knowledge of debt legislation and best practice.
- Work across service areas and with external partners to remove barriers, resolve operational issues, improve processes, and enhance overall service effectiveness.
- Monitor performance data, analyse exception reports, identify trends, and present clear, evidence-based information to stakeholders to support informed decision making and continuous improvement.
