Morgan Hunt is working in partnership with an FE College located in the heart of Birmingham. They are seeking a History & Politics Lecturer to join their busy and vibrant A Level department.

The Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and committed Lecturer to teach AS & A‑Level History and Politics.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering high‑quality lessons for AS and A‑Level History & Politics
  • Designing learning that is relevant, up to date, and responsive to students of differing abilities
  • Marking, assessment, and tracking student progress; providing feedback and interventions where needed
  • Contributing to course development and keeping up with changes in exam board specifications
  • Supporting enrichment activities (debates, model parliament, trips, guest lectures) to enhance learning and students\’ broader understanding
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, participating in departmental meetings, peer observations, and CPD
  • Supporting students in UCAS / university applications, personal statements, and wider skills essential for further study

Education, skills and requirements

  • Degree in History, Politics, or closely related discipline
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, DTLLS, Level 5 Certificate, or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching A‑Level History and/or A‑Level Politics
  • Experience with multiple exam boards (e.g. AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
  • Enhanced DBS on the updated services
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
  • Ability to engage, motivate and support students from diverse backgrounds
  • Good organisational skills; capable of planning, assessment, record‑keeping
