Make financial decisions that shape communities. As an Accountant within Strategic Finance, you will partner directly with service leaders to influence revenue and capital budgets, long-term planning and financial performance across this Scottish Council. You will work alongside a Principal Accountant, supporting medium and long-term financial planning, capital programmes and service transformation.

The Role

  • Support revenue and capital budget preparation and monitoring
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to Heads of Service and managers
  • Contribute to financial performance reporting and service reviews
  • Support year-end accounts, treasury management and financial governance

You will also contribute to corporate finance activities including tax compliance, VAT, capital financing and treasury support.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • CCAB qualified accountant
  • Experience preparing and monitoring complex budgets
  • Experience providing financial advice in a complex organisation
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Ability to present financial information to senior stakeholders

Desirable

  • Local Government finance experience
  • Experience contributing to annual accounts
  • Knowledge of VAT in a public sector setting
