About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a motivated and experienced Sports & Public Services Lecturer to join leading Further Education providers across Essex. This temporary opportunity is ideal for candidates who are passionate about developing the next generation of professionals within the sports, fitness, uniformed services, and public sector industries. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical lessons across Sports and/or Public Services programmes, supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for further study and future careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Sports and Public Services lessons.
  • Teach across a range of Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 qualifications.
  • Assess learner work and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • Monitor student progress and implement appropriate intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Promote learner engagement, attendance, and progression.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with awarding body and college requirements.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Support learners in developing both academic knowledge and employability skills.

Requirements

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Sports, Public Services, Physical Education, Sports Coaching, Uniformed Protective Services, or a related subject.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent) desirable.
  • Previous experience teaching Sports and/or Public Services within Further Education, Secondary Education, or Training environments.
  • Industry experience within sport, fitness, coaching, emergency services, armed forces, or public services would be advantageous.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Passion for inspiring and supporting learners.
