We are seeking a dedicated Domestic Abuse Intervention Specialist to provide a high-quality, survivor-led service that prioritises safety, wellbeing, and empowerment.
About the Role
As a Domestic Abuse Intervention Specialist, you\’ll play a vital role in delivering holistic support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse – as well as working proactively with perpetrators to help them recognise and change harmful behaviours.
You’ll conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and offer ongoing emotional and practical support. You’ll also engage children and young people who have witnessed abuse, ensuring they access appropriate therapeutic interventions.
The role also involves multi‑agency collaboration with social care, police, health, and voluntary sector partners to ensure coordinated and effective responses for families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide trauma‑informed, survivor‑focused support through risk assessment, safety planning, and advocacy.
- Deliver holistic case management for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.
- Support children and young people impacted by domestic abuse to access appropriate support.
- Engage perpetrators through motivational interviewing to encourage behavioural change.
- Work collaboratively with partners across social care, criminal justice, and community services.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service development through feedback and reflection.
- Promote awareness of domestic abuse and deliver guidance or training to professionals where required.
About You
We\’re looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and able to work in a fast‑paced, emotionally demanding environment. You\’ll need to demonstrate:
- Experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse or individuals with complex needs.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
- Strong communication and advocacy skills, with confidence working in multi‑agency settings.
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload.
- An understanding of equality, diversity, and the intersectional nature of domestic abuse.
An IDVA qualification (or willingness to work towards one) is desirable.
