Are you an experienced Chemistry Technician or science professional looking for a rewarding role in education? In this role, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation, preparation, and organisation of science laboratories. You will be responsible for preparing practical lessons across a range of programmes, ensuring equipment, materials, and resources are ready for delivery, while maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑equipped learning environment. This is a varied and hands‑on position within a supportive academic environment where your technical expertise will make a direct contribution to learner success every day.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, set up, and maintain science laboratories for practical teaching sessions.
- Provide hands‑on technical support to lecturers during practical lessons and assessments.
- Maintain, calibrate, and service laboratory equipment, ensuring all apparatus is in excellent working condition.
- Support health and safety standards, including routine safety checks and COSHH compliance.
- Manage chemical inventories, stock control, and ordering of laboratory materials.
- Assist students during practical activities and work collaboratively with teaching staff.
- Support audits and inspections to ensure quality assurance and compliance.
- Practical experience working in a laboratory, science department, or relevant scientific environment.
- Experience preparing, maintaining, and managing laboratory equipment and materials.
- Sound knowledge of laboratory procedures and safe working practices.
- Knowledge of A Level, BTEC, Access to HE, or T Level Science practical requirements.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service.
