The Opportunity
As a Speech, Language & Communication Specialist, you'll work closely with learners who have a range of speech, language, communication, and interaction needs, supporting them to access education, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals. Working alongside teaching staff, learning support teams, parents, carers, and external professionals, you'll use your specialist knowledge to develop effective communication strategies and interventions that enable learners to thrive.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assessing learners' speech, language, and communication needs
- Developing and delivering tailored support plans and interventions
- Supporting learners with communication, social interaction, and independence skills
- Providing guidance and practical strategies to teaching staff and support teams
- Working collaboratively with EHCP coordinators and multidisciplinary professionals
- Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate records
- Contributing to annual reviews and EHCP outcomes where appropriate
- Promoting inclusive learning environments that support learner success
- Supporting learners to build confidence, self-advocacy, and independence
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or a relevant equivalent qualification
- HCPC registration or relevant professional experience within speech, language, and communication support
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, empathetic, and learner-centred approach
- Experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A genuine passion for helping learners achieve their full potential
