Our client Morgan Hunt is working with a leading Northwest charity who provide accommodation and support for vulnerable people at risk of homelessness in and across the Northwest. Support services are aimed at helping customers to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to maintain a stable home and a structured lifestyle before assisting them in the process of securing or retaining permanent independent accommodation.

We are looking for a number of Waking Night Support Workers to work within a hostel in Blackburn. Hours of work are 8pm - 8am and this will be on a rolling basis.

The role:

  • Be part of a team providing 24/7 services to customers based on site.
  • Utilise CCTV to monitor the security and safety of the premises on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitor the communal internal and external areas of the two schemes.
  • Make regular visual inspections of all internal and external communal areas of the supported housing project.
  • Assist customers in maintaining the security of their dwelling and communal areas, and to reduce or eliminate any noise or disturbance.
  • Keep accurate logs and share information about events that have occurred in the night shift with the day workers.
  • Perform light cleaning and assist in getting rooms ready for customer move-ins.
  • Occasionally sign-up new customers in the evening, listen to customer concerns and treat all residents with respect.

The candidate:

  • You have the ability to work with customers who have complex needs and who may be challenging to work with, and to respond to conflict situations in a calm yet firm manner.
  • You have the ability to support, cooperate and work as part of a team with others to achieve common objectives.
  • You have an awareness of health and safety / personal safety issues in a support accommodation project.
  • You have an understanding of safeguarding issues.
  • You have the ability to act as an advocate and liaise with the relevant agencies.
