Salary: £29,455 per annum (unqualified) to £33,487 per annum (qualified), plus benefits

About the Role

Morgan Hunt are working with a further education college based in South Yorkshire who are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Hairdressing and Barbering Lecturer to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire the next generation of hair and barbering professionals while making a positive impact within the local community. You will deliver engaging teaching across Level 1 to Level 3 Hairdressing and Barbering programmes, including evening classes, occasional weekend sessions, competition activities, and, where required, school-link provision for learners aged 14-16. The role involves planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing, and marking learner work, and carrying out internal quality assurance activities across all programme levels. You will also actively participate in continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance your teaching and industry expertise. As a lecturer, your primary focus will be to provide outstanding teaching and learning experiences that equip students with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence they need for successful careers within the hairdressing and barbering industry.

About You

You will be committed to delivering an outstanding learner experience and creating engaging teaching resources that support student achievement. You will monitor learner progress, provide effective feedback, and help students achieve positive outcomes throughout their programmes. Previous experience of working with VTCT qualifications would be advantageous. You will be an enthusiastic and collaborative team member with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with colleagues, managers, clients, and external stakeholders. A strong understanding of quality assurance processes within further education is essential.

Essential Requirements

  • Industry experience in both hairdressing and barbering.
  • Teaching experience within further education or a similar setting.
  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in both Hairdressing and Barbering.
  • A recognised Level 5 teaching qualification.
  • An Assessor Award qualification.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths (Level 2 preferred or willingness to achieve if required).
  • An Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification is desirable; support will be provided to gain this if necessary.
