About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to lead on improving student attendance and punctuality across the college. You will play a vital role in ensuring all students attend regularly, working closely with families, pastoral teams, and external agencies to remove barriers to attendance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and track daily attendance and punctuality
- Follow up on absences (first‑day calling, home visits where required)
- Work with students and families to improve attendance
- Identify patterns of persistent absence and implement interventions
- Maintain accurate attendance records (e.g. SIMS / Arbor)
- Liaise with safeguarding, pastoral teams, and external agencies
- Prepare attendance reports for SLT and governors
About You
- Experience working in a school or similar setting
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Confident communicator with parents/carers and professionals
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism
- Good knowledge of attendance processes and safeguarding
Desirable:
- Experience with SIMS, Arbor, or similar MIS systems
- Understanding of UK attendance legislation and guidance
- Experience conducting home visits or working with external agencies
