Role
- Managing the mechanical design and delivery of building services projects across various sectors.
- Oversee the production of high-quality design documentation including calculations, specifications, reports, and technical drawings.
- Assist with preparation of enquiry plans, tender reviews, fee estimate sheets, scopes of work and change controls.
- Manage project programmes, resources, and budgets from concept through to construction and commissioning stages.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, design teams, and contractors, fostering strong and lasting relationships.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and professional development.
- Support strategic business development including fee proposals, bid submissions, and client presentations.
Qualifications/Experience
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc).
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with CIBSE, IMechE, or working towards chartership.
- Proven experience (typically 8-15+ years) in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC, ventilation, and public health system design across various sectors.
- Extensive experience leading projects through all RIBA stages, from concept to handover.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations, CIBSE guides, and industry standards .
- Demonstrated leadership in managing design teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with a proven track record in stakeholder engagement.
- Commercial awareness with experience preparing fee proposals.
