ALS Funding Manager

The ALS Funding Manager will lead the delivery of high-quality support for students with additional learning needs and disabilities, ensuring effective provision across the organisation. The role combines operational leadership, funding management, compliance oversight, and collaboration with curriculum and support teams to deliver outstanding learner outcomes.

  • Lead and manage a team of Learning Support staff to provide effective support for learners with complex needs.
  • Take responsibility for recruitment, performance management, absence management, and the development of direct reports.
  • Manage and maximise funding streams including High Needs Funding, Additional Learning Support (ALS), Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA), and other income sources.
  • Work closely with curriculum teams, support services, and external agencies to ensure learner needs are identified and supported effectively.
  • Oversee learner assessments, support planning, and the accurate recording of outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with funding regulations, quality standards, GDPR requirements, and internal policies through regular audits and monitoring.
  • Contribute to service improvement by developing and implementing effective systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Deliver training and guidance to colleagues to promote inclusive practice and awareness of SEND and support strategies.
  • Lead key strategic priorities and continuous improvement initiatives within additional learning support services.

The Desired Person

  • Degree-level qualification or significant relevant experience within education.
  • English and Maths qualification (Level 2 or equivalent).
  • Teaching, learner support, SEND, or leadership and management qualification.
  • Leadership and management experience within education or a similar environment.
  • Experience securing and managing learner support funding.
  • Experience leading organisational change and service improvement.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing staff performance and implementing HR processes.
  • Strong understanding of SEND, disability inclusion, and barriers to learning.
  • Knowledge of education funding, quality assurance, and inspection frameworks.
  • Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes, and Preparing for Adulthood agenda.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.
