Overview
Morgan Hunt is recruiting for a Porter/Caretaker/Facilities Officer to work with a FE College based in Surrey on a temporary basis. The details of the job are below:
- Hours: 37 hours rotating shift - Mon to Fri - 7am-3pm, 8am-5pm, and 2pm-10pm
- Pay Rate: £18ph Ltd
- Location: Surrey
- Duration: 3 months ongoing contract
- Enhanced DBS Certificate required or would be prepared to undertake DBS
- Full Clean UK driving licence company vehicle provided covering 2 campus sites
About the role:
- Assist in the general upkeep of college buildings and grounds
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
- Monitor and report any repairs or maintenance issues to the Facilities Team
- Inspect and maintain fixtures and fittings within common areas
- Ensure agreed room layout plans are always provided as requested
- Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for college events, meetings, and activities
- Assist in the transportation of materials and supplies as required
- Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Provide information and directions as needed to enhance the campus experience
- Collect, deliver and accept internal and external mail and parcels
- Ensure supplies including water, refreshments are adequately stocked and distributed.
- Ensure that all areas of the college are secure and safe for students and staff
- Report any incidents or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel
- Perform other duties as assigned by the facilities team
Skills & Experience
- Experience of working within a busy and demanding environment
- Previous experience in a caretaker or similar Porter or Facilities role
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation / regulations
- Knowledge of security systems and devices
- Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding considerations and the impact of these on facilities, security and site management
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience of using online systems and databases
- Working understanding of COSHH regulations / principles
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks and requirements of role
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
