Porter/Caretaker/Facilities Officer - Surrey in Redhill

Overview

Morgan Hunt is recruiting for Porter/Caretaker/Facilities Officer to work with a FE College based in Surrey on a temporary basis. The details of the job are below.

• Hours: 37 hours rotating shift – Mon to Fri – 7am-3pm, 8am-5pm, and 2pm-10pm
• Pay Rate: £18ph Ltd
• Location: Surrey
• Duration: 3 months on-going contract
• Enhanced DBS Certificate required or would be prepared to undertake DBS
• Full Clean UK driving licence; company vehicle provided covering 2 campus sites

Role and duties

• Assist in the general upkeep of college buildings and grounds
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and welcoming environment
• Monitor and report any repairs or maintenance issues to the Facilities Team
• Inspect and maintain fixtures and fittings within common areas
• Ensure agreed room layout plans are always provided as requested
• Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for college events, meetings, and activities
• Assist in the transportation of materials and supplies as required
• Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
• Provide information and directions as needed to enhance the campus experience
• Collect, deliver and accept internal and external mail and parcels
• Ensure supplies including water and refreshments are adequately stocked and distributed
• Ensure that all areas of the college are secure and safe for students and staff
• Report any incidents or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel
• Perform other duties as assigned by the facilities team

Skills & Experience

• Experience of working within a busy and demanding environment
• Previous experience in a caretaker or similar Porter or Facilities role
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation/regulations
• Knowledge of security systems and devices
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding considerations and the impact on facilities, security and site management
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience of using online systems and databases
• Working understanding of COSHH regulations/principles
• Physical capability to perform manual tasks and meet the requirements of the role
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
