A college based in County Durham is currently looking for a passionate and committed English Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching across GCSE and Functional Skills programmes (up to Level 2). This is an excellent opportunity to help learners build the essential language skills they need to succeed in further study, employment, and everyday life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons, supported by well-prepared learning materials
  • Develop and review course content and assessments
  • Monitor and track learner attendance, progress, and achievement
  • Contribute to course reviews, moderation, and continuous quality improvement
  • Provide guidance and support to learners
  • Take part in team meetings, CPD, and college events
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of teaching

Essential Requirements

  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • A Level 3 qualification and a degree in a relevant subject
  • Experience teaching English across a range of levels
  • Experience supporting diverse learners aged 14-19+, including those with SEND
  • Strong understanding of the Ofsted framework for Further Education
  • Familiarity with Eduqas GCSE and Pearson Functional Skills specifications
  • Ability to motivate and inspire learners to achieve meaningful progress
  • Confidence using educational systems and analysing learner data
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • A full UK driving licence and/or access to a vehicle

Desirable

  • Experience organising work experience opportunities for learners
  • Knowledge of awarding body policies and procedures
  • A teaching approach that actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion
