Accommodation Support Worker - Homelessness Oldham / Rochdale
Temporary £17.00 - £18.00 per hour
Morgan Hunt are currently working with a number of organisations across Oldham and Rochdale (Greater Manchester) who are looking to recruit Accommodation Support Workers for their supported housing, temporary accommodation and hostel services. Services support a variety of different client groups including adults and young people experiencing homelessness to live independently and move on with their lives.
As an Accommodation Support Worker you will:
- Help residents move into accommodation and understand tenancy agreements.
- Support clients with housing applications and preventing eviction.
- Help people attend appointments with GPs, probation, drug/alcohol services, or mental health teams.
- Create support plans and set goals for independent living.
- Manage difficult situations such as substance misuse, mental health crises, self-harm risk, aggression, or neighbour disputes.
- Work with councils, charities, social workers, and outreach teams to safeguard vulnerable people.
Experience of working within a similar setting supporting people with complex needs is essential. Knowledge and understanding of the needs of vulnerable people and the issues that can prevent long-term tenancy sustainment is required. Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and developments relating to vulnerable people is also necessary.
The ability to motivate positive change and engage clients to develop independent living skills and achieve their outcomes is crucial. Due to the nature of the role, an Enhanced DBS is required for this position.
