About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Science Lecturer to join a college in North London on a temporary, part-time basis. You will deliver engaging and practical lessons to further education students, supporting them in developing the scientific knowledge, analytical skills, and practical laboratory experience required for further study or careers within the science sector. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire learners and help prepare them for progression into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment in scientific and technical fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons (Level 2-Level 3/BTEC or equivalent)
- Teach across one or more science disciplines, including Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress
- Support students in developing practical laboratory and theoretical scientific skills
- Prepare learners for coursework, practical assessments, and examinations
- Differentiating teaching to meet a range of abilities and learning needs
- Maintain a professional, safe, and inclusive laboratory/classroom environment
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures within practical sessions
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff
About You
- Relevant qualification in Science or a related subject
- Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) - desirable
- Experience teaching in a college or FE setting
- Strong subject knowledge and practical laboratory skills
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Passion for supporting learners in achieving their academic and career goals
- Desirable: Experience delivering BTEC, A-Level, or Access to Science qualifications
- Industry or laboratory experience within a scientific field
- Familiarity with current UK FE curriculum and assessment frameworks
