We're looking for a confident, adaptable individual with experience in public speaking or working with young people to join a welcoming secondary school as a member of their ad hoc cover team. Behaviour is generally very good at this school and you will be working in a happy and purposeful environment.
This is a flexible opportunity, ideal for someone calm under pressure, great with people, and keen to make a real impact in a school environment.
What You'll DoAs part of a small, supportive cover team who are available to the school on an ad hoc basis for occasional shifts as and when required, you'll step in for absent teachers and ensure students are on task and understand the cover work set. This will involve:
- Leading learning for students aged 11-18 (up to 25 per class)
- Creating a positive, focused learning atmosphere
- Managing behaviour confidently and respectfully
- Supporting students' learning with initiative and energy
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds - whether you're a youth worker, actor, coach, presenter, or already working in education. You'll thrive if you have:
- Confidence in leading and managing groups
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Experience in teaching, training, coaching or similar
- A subject specialism (a plus, not a requirement)
Prior experience as a Cover Supervisor or HLTA is helpful, but not essential. What matters most is your ability to connect with young people and lead a classroom.
