We are seeking a creative and organised Art Technician to join a college in East London on a temporary, full-time basis. You will support the delivery of engaging art and design lessons by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting both staff and students in practical sessions. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a dynamic creative environment and support learners in developing their artistic skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up materials, tools, and equipment for art and design lessons
- Support students and teaching staff during practical sessions
- Maintain, clean, and organise art studios and equipment
- Ensure safe storage and handling of materials, including hazardous substances
- Assist with displays of student work and exhibitions
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies as required
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment
About You
- Background or qualification in Art, Design, or a related field
- Experience working in an educational or studio environment - desirable
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of a range of art materials and techniques
- Ability to support students in a practical learning setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
- Experience supporting art or design courses in an FE or school setting
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in workshops/studios
- Familiarity with a range of artistic disciplines (e.g., painting, sculpture, printmaking)
