Job Description

LGBT+ Helpline AdvisorLocation: Hybrid or remote (office base in Central London)Hours: 35 per week (full-time, 5 days on a rolling rota including evenings)Contract: 3 month FTC with potential to extendSalary: £16.50-20.50 per hour

About the Role

We're looking for a compassionate and resilient Helpline Advisor to join our dedicated team. You'll provide vital emotional and practical support to LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence, helping people navigate challenging situations and empowering them to make informed decisions.This role involves responding to calls, emails, and webchats, offering trauma-informed guidance, and supporting individuals experiencing issues such as domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and so-called conversion practices.You'll play a key part in creating a safe, respectful, and empowering space for service users, while also ensuring that risk and safeguarding concerns are managed effectively.

What You'll Do
  • Provide high-quality, trauma-informed support via phone, email, and webchat.
  • Carry out risk assessments, safety planning, and safeguarding interventions.
  • Offer guidance, resources, and signposting to specialist services.
  • Keep accurate records of contacts and outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the helpline service.
About You

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience providing trauma-informed support (paid or unpaid).
  • A strong understanding of the issues facing LGBT+ people affected by abuse and violence.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to stay calm and empathetic under pressure.
  • A commitment to inclusivity, equity, and empowerment.
  • Flexibility to work a rolling rota, including some evenings.
